Now it is named Google Lens and providing better features too. It supports in both Android and Apple iOS devices and it has a brilliant feature of scanning text too. It can easily scan anything through your mobile camera. While directing your camera in an object Google Lens will start scanning the object, it can also scan barcodes, QR codes, labels, texts as well as pictures. Let us suppose, you are walking in a park and you see an unknown insect, you are getting curious about the name of the insect, at that time you can simply just open Google Lens on your mobile device and click the photo of the insect and scan it on Google Lens and Google Lens will satisfy your curiousness by giving you the name of that insect.
Google Lens is also integrated with its other apps Google Assistant and Google Photos.
According to Wikipedia, Google Lens uses more advanced deep learning routines in order to empower detection capabilities, similar to other apps like Bixby Vision.
In 2019, Google announced new features for it and now it will be able to recognize and recommend items on a menu. It will have the ability to also calculate tips and split bills, show how to prepare dishes from a recipe and can use text-to-speech.
